* BS in chemical engineering
* 6+ years related experience in mining and/or chemical process industry
* Must have a solid understanding of process and mechanical engineering practices and processes, including mass and energy transfer and fluid flow.
* Experience with MOC and PHA processes, PFD’s, P&ID’s, developing process schematics preferred.
* Lean Methodologies and/or Six Sigma experience preferred
* Knowledge of controls and electrical engineering fundamentals preferred.
* Must have the legal right to work indefinitely in the United States or be a Canadian or Mexican citizen.

Job Duties:

Excellent high desert location for the outdoors type without the expense of the crowded coastal areas of California. Located in the Bakersfield/ Mojave/ Ridgecrest area. In this position you will develop deep process knowledge and provide technical and operational leadership to improve productivity, quality and yield. You should possess a desire to translate technical insight and know-how into practical real-world improvements. Compliance with applicable State and Federal Regulations related to safety and the environment is an important part of this position.

Some key responsibilities will include the following:

*Complete projects by developing, organizing, leading and controlling various project elements including designing, planning, scheduling and cost management.
* Develop detailed project specifications including drawings, data sheets, etc. in full compliance with recognized industry standards, safety standards and various client specifications.
* Direct and coordinate project activities to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
* Develop standardized documentation including SOPs, training, validation of equipment performance, and technical and project reports.
* Identify and manage relationships with preferred equipment manufacturers, specialists and technical support consultants. Provide engineering support to optimize plant operations, increase capacity, reduce cycle times, improve yields, and reduce costs.
* Identify, recommend and implement projects to improve unit operation performance
* Work closely with manufacturing team at all levels to resolve technical issues, applying engineering and technical skills to design, optimize and troubleshoot equipment.
* Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize operating units to drive process and product improvements.
* Assess options for plant reconfiguration or expansion by developing and testing engineering tools, including process simulation models.
* Maximize plant production capability and track and evaluate asset utilization data, including documentation for areas of responsibility.
* Help design and implement new manufacturing processes for existing and new products. Maintain thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment and act as engineering resource.
* Responsible for heat and material balance, development and use of process simulation, the development of process flow diagrams, block flow diagrams, system design parameters, and design or rating of equipment and apparatus such as heat exchangers, vessels, reactors, etc.
* Develop and maintain expertise on current and emerging technologies. Use rigorous tools, including DMAIC, LEAN, and/or Innovation methodologies to aid in risk analysis, RCA, and decision/evaluation recommendations
* Work with management on specific projects or opportunities that will add value to the bottom line.
* Implement corrective actions to solve problems based on root cause analysis
* Design, install, and evaluate sampling and measurement procedures.
* Lead problem solving teams using lean process tools.
* Drive best practices in all areas of responsibility of the value stream. Required Skills:
* Capable of applying engineering and technical problem-solving knowledge and skills to analyze complex challenges in ways that deliver measurable and sustainable improvements in operational performance.
* Must be “hands-on” and willing to “roll up sleeves” and work at all levels of organization as circumstances require.
* Must be able to think outside the box and apply innovative thinking to solving problems.
* Must possess manufacturing equipment knowledge including reactors, heat exchangers, piping, and pumps and pumping systems, boilers, filters, cooling systems and technical drawing interpretations.
* Able to support plants which are in continuous operation (24/7).
* Must be familiar with process equipment operation and troubleshooting.
