* BS in mechanical engineering and 5 to 10 years of experience in an industrial environment with at least 5 years maintenance and/or reliability experience.
* Have a solid understanding of production processes, mechanical engineering practices and field applications and basic understanding of electrical and instrumentation (E&I) field applications.
* Experienced with CMMS and work order systems.
* Six Sigma experience is a plus
* PE is a plus
* Knowledge of metallurgy is a plus
* Must have the legal right to work indefinitely in the United States or be a citizen of Canada or Mexico

Job Duties:

Excellent high desert/ mountainous location for the outdoors type without the expense of the crowded coastal areas of California. In the Bakersfield/ Ridgecrest/ Mojave area. In this very large 500+ person inorganics production facility you will provide mechanical engineering expertise in direct support of maintenance and operations in ways that ensure optimal equipment availability. An important focus of this work will be to help determine the most effective maintenance approach to provide the operating facilities with the required reliability and availability, at the least cost, based on sound technical and economic justifications. Compliance with applicable State and Federal Codes, Standards and Regulations related to safety and the environment is an important part of this position.

Some of your responsibilities will include the following:

* Develop, execute and manage maintenance and improvement activities aimed at maintaining/improving asset availability and reliability. Restore equipment to base condition inherent levels of reliability and safety when deterioration occurs.
* Continuously improve the maintenance operating system (MOS). Identify the most cost-effective and applicable maintenance techniques to minimize the risk and impact of failure in facility equipment and systems.
* Provide engineering support to maintenance and operations teams. Obtain the information necessary for design improvement for equipment and systems where inherent reliability is inadequate.
* Perform technical analysis, testing, calculations, and evaluation of results to improve equipment and system reliability, safety and sustainability at minimum total cost. You should have the following skills:
* Capable of applying engineering insights, technical problem-solving skills and experience-based judgment to complex challenges in ways that deliver measurable and sustainable improvements in asset uptime.
* Mechanical aptitude.
* Knowledge of preventive (PM) and predictive (PdM) maintenance procedures.
* Must be hands-on and willing to roll-up sleeves and work at all levels of organization.
* Able to support plants which are in continuous operation.
* Must have thorough understanding of root cause analysis and troubleshooting.
* Able to work in areas under adverse conditions that may require the donning and use of personal protective equipment.
* Must be familiar with common process equipment such as rotating equipment, dryers, valves, motors, piping, compressors, pumps, vessels, furnaces, heat exchangers, filters, etc.
